Dervishi's hat trick leads Fulton to soccer victory

Fulton had to battle Saturday in the second leg of three straight road games and posted a 4-3 win against Warrenton.

Senior Alban Dervishi scored his second hat trick of the season and the Hornets' third overall in a game that saw 42 total shots and 30 shots on goal.

Warrenton (0-5) struck first in the 16th minute, but Fulton (8-3) responded a minute later on Dervishi's first goal on an assist by junior Josh Narancich.

The score wouldn't stay tied for long as Warrenton added its second in the 19th minute. The Hornets would tie the game again in the 33rd minute on a goal by sophomore Jayden Ayers on feed from Dervishi. Fulton and Dervish would be return to the scoring column in the 36th minute off an assisted by junior Dominick Tharp.

The Hornets would take their first lead of the day into halftime before the game would see its third tie in the 42nd minute on Warrenton's final goal.

The most time elapsed during the third tie as Dervishi would complete the hat trick in the 70th minute on Narancich's second assist.

Senior Joey Anderson had another busy day with 16 saves, following a Thursday's 22 saves at Hannibal.

"Today was a day where we didn't play our best soccer and found a way to grit out a win," head coach Joel Henley said. "We are going to learn from today and get better."

Fulton (2-2 NCMC) will wrap up its road stretch Tuesday with a conference contest at Moberly (6-3, 4-2 NCMC).
