Lady Hornets snag some individual wins, win second dual in four-game stretch

Fulton was able to win its second dual of the season 9-0 (Battle forfeits No.5-6 singles and No. 3 doubles) in a Friday matchup with Battle while losing 8-1 duals on Thursday, Monday and Tuesday to Boonville, Mexico and Capital City.

The dual win against Battle (0-6) is the Lady Hornets' first since their Sept. 11 4-0 win against Lexington.

Before that on Thursday, Fulton (2-11-1, 0-5 NCMC) lost at Boonville (5-3) with its only victory coming in a doubles match by senior Teresa Hinchie and junior Maelynn Kramer.

The Lady Hornets went back home Friday for dual against Battle, with three winning their first singles matches. Kramer, junior Tori Hays and freshman Marwa Sherzad each picked up a win while Hinchie won her second and junior Jayna Davison won her fifth. Davison and Hays and Hinchie and Kramer were the Fulton pairs to pick up doubles victories in the dual.

Fulton would stay at home for Monday's dual and lose to conference opponent Mexico (7-3). The Lady Hornets were only to pick up one team point despite playing several close matches, but sophomore Kier Henderson won her first varsity singles match.

The Lady Hornets would play on home court Tuesday against Capital City (10-2) and lose 8-1. Henderson did win her second varsity match in as many duals.

Fulton will play in conference again at 4 p.m. today at Kirksville (2-6, 2-2 NCMC).
