Fatima takes advantage of walks, New Bloomfield loses 7-1

New Bloomfield and Fatima combined for 10 hits Tuesday, but the Lady Wildcats lost 7-1.

The Lady Comets (7-2, 2-0 SMC) were able to make their hits count and take advantage of walks issued by the New Bloomfield (7-7, 3-2 SMC).

Sophomore Peityn Thomas only allowed three hits through four innings but gave six free passes on her way to five earned runs. Senior Asya Nichols pitched two innings in relief, allowing two earned runs and one walk in two innings. Fatima pitching issued two walks and had 12 strikeouts.

Fatima took a 2-0 lead after two innings as two of its walked batters scored on wild pitches. Another walk would score in Fatima's three-run fourth inning.

New Bloomfield would answer in the fifth inning with its lone run on freshman Macie Abbott's home run to left field. She was 1-for-3 along with three other Lady Wildcats.

New Bloomfield will return home for a 5 p.m. Thursday conference game against Eugene (6-6, 1-2 SMC).
