High School Cross Country: Hinrichs, Lemelin star for New Bloomfield at Southern Stampede

New Bloomfield had two runners place in the top 20 Saturday during the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin.

Senior Nathan Hinrichs won his fourth race to lead the Wildcats, and senior Mikaela Lemelin finished 18th to lead the Lady Wildcats.

Hinrichs had his fastest time yet in the boys 5K, at 16:12.43, eclipsing his previous season best at New Bloomfield's first meet Sept. 4 in New Haven, when he had a 16:34.15. Senior Brian Figard was the next best Wildcat finisher in 60th at 19:23.49. Freshman Riley Connell came in at 89th at 20:05.98.

Lemelin also had her fastest time of the season Saturday, with a 21:56.48, shattering her previous fastest of 23:07.60 that was also set at New Haven. Senior Jill Pry was the next fastest Lady Wildcat in 65th with a 24:44.61, and freshman Kaelyn Tighe was next in 84th at 26:06.57.

New Bloomfield will run Saturday at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia.
