South Callaway softball drops pair in Russellville

The Lady Bulldog offense has struggled for three straight games after losing a pair of tournament games Saturday in Russellville.

South Callaway lost 14-0 to Versailles in the first game and then lost 5-2 to New Haven in the second.

Against Versailes, South Callaway shut out for the second straight game, after losing 17-0 to Hallsville on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs gave up 12 hits and seven doubles in five innings while having only two of their own.

Freshman McKenzie Laughlin gave up 11 runs (nine earned) in four innings while striking out five. Junior Kesler Finney pitched an inning of three-run ball in relief. Finney had one of the two hits along with freshman Reagan Arrowood.

The Lady Bulldog offense was shut down for the most part again in game two against New Haven, having just three hits in the first six innings before a two-run rally in the seventh.

Finney started the game, pitching 2 innings of four-run ball while Laughlin took over with 3 innings of one-run ball.

Arrowood had two hits along with senior Avarie Musgrove, who singled her way on in the seventh for senior Grace Pontius two-run double with one out.

South Callaway (4-5) will play New Haven (5-4) again at 5 p.m. today at home.
