North Callaway rallies twice, loses thrice in Cairo

The Ladybirds had some late-inning comebacks in them during Saturday's three tournament games in Cairo but not any wins as North Callaway went winless for the day.

The team would come back late to send its first game against Community into the eighth inning but lost 13-10. North Callaway would then lose 15-0 in four innings to New Bloomfield then come rally once in the third game for extras against Cairo before losing 14-7.

The Ladybirds couldn't mount much of an offensive attack in the second game against New Bloomfield as junior Ellie Bedworth allowed 15 runs (14 earned) on 11 hits. North Callaway had three hits in the game.

In the third game against Cairo, the Ladybirds were down 7-1 in the seventh but rallied with six to send it in the eighth. Cairo would then score seven, with four of them being unearned, in the extra frame to win the game.

The Ladybird offense had 10 hits - led by junior Lilly Shafer's 2-for-3, one-RBI day - but also had six errors.
