South Callaway shut out in short order 17-0 against Hallsville

South Callaway had two runners reach base. Nothing more than that.

The Lady Bulldogs lost Thursday to Hallsville 17-0 in four innings, marking this as the most runs they have allowed this year and its first time being shut out. It's the most runs allowed at South Callaway's home field since the 18 runs it allowed to New Bloomfield on Oct. 1.

Senior Hailee Potter led the first inning with a walk after Hallsville drove in two in the top half. The Lady Indian's Elie Cobb started her no-hit day by retiring the next six batter, with four via the strikeout. Cobb has seven strikeouts through four innings.

Freshman Haley White was South Callaway's other baserunner after drawing a leadoff walk in the third. Another strikeout and then a double play ended the threat before it could even begin.

Hallsville (10-3) had two six-run innings in the second and third before wrapping up its day at the plate with three in the fourth.

The pitching pair of freshman McKenzie Laughlin and junior Kesler Finney allowed 15 hits total. Laughlin was on the hook for 12 runs, but six were unearned because of five Lady Bulldog errors. All of Finney's five runs were earned.

South Callaway (4-3) will play in a Saturday tournament in Russellville and will play Versailles (7-3) in its first game.
