Belle capitalizes on New Bloomfield errors as Wildcats fall 5-4

New Bloomfield couldn't make up for its three errors in its 5-4 loss Tuesday against Belle.

The senior pitching tandem of Trevor Jordan and Michael Saleny allowed four hits, two walks and two earned runs in innings between them but also had three unearned runs affixed to their lines.

The Wildcats (4-3) jumped ahead first after senior Lucas Buscher's two-run home run in the fourth inning. Buscher would then make an error on a ground ball with one out in the fourth inning. Belle scored its first run on a groundout to cut the lead in half.

In Saleny's first inning of work, in the Belle half of the fifth inning, he induced a groundout for the first out, hit a batter and then committed an error. Saleny walked the bases loaded and then walked in a run before Belle pushed three more across to make it 5-2 after five.

New Bloomfield loaded the bases in the seventh to set up Jordan's two-RBI double. Freshman Braden Jackson was still at third for the Wildcats, and they would switch him out for freshman courtesy runner Andrew Fouch. Fouch was then caught trying to steal home to end the game.

New Bloomfield will play in the Eugene Baseball Bash on Friday and Saturday with its opponents Friday being Pilot Grove (5-1) - who the Wildcats lost to 3-2 on Sept. 10 - and Higbee (3-1).
