Ladybirds win first set, lose in four to Intensity Homeschool

North Callaway has been trying to win its first set this season through four losses. The Ladybirds won the first one Monday at home against Intensity Homeschool.

The first set was decided by a 25-18 score before North Callaway dropped the last three (17-25, 24-26, 17-25) to lose its fifth match.

Head coach Andrew Klein noticed his girls played even harder Monday, especially in that close third set, but couldn't quite do enough for a win.

"Our girls played so hard tonight and showed a lot of great teamwork," Klein said. "Unfortunately, we couldn't put it all together, but we continue to move in the right direction."

Senior Jenny Selby had seven aces, freshman Natalie Shryock had six kills, sophomore Riley Blevins had five blocks and junior Ellie Pezold had seven assists.

North Callaway (0-5) will back at it at 6 p.m. tonight for a home against Calvary Lutheran. The Lady Lions beat the Ladybirds in straight sets Thursday at Calvary Lutheran.
