Fulton tennis sees some victories at Boonville

The Fulton girls notched some wins on their belts Saturday at the Lady Pirate Open in Boonville.

The Lady Hornets played competitors from Osage, Lexington, Boonville and Moberly, winning four out of eight singles matches and two out of eight doubles matches.

In singles, juniors Jayna Davison and Maelynn Kramer each went 2-2 in their matches. Davison defeated her Osage opponent 8-4 and then beat her Lexington opponent before losing to Boonville and Moberly. Kramer had a similar day defeating her Osage opponent 8-5 and then winning against Lexington before losing to Boonville and Moberly.

In doubles, the pairs of senior Teresa Hinchie and freshman Marwa Sherzad and sophomore Madi Plybon and freshman Marin Aulbur each secured a win out of their four matches. Hinchie and Sherzad were first time partners and won the match against Lexington but lost to Osage, Boonville and Moberly. Plybon and Aulbur were playing their first varsity matches and were able to get their first varsity win against Lexington but lost to Osage, Boonville and Moberly.

Fulton (0-4) will be back in action at 4 p.m. Monday at Marshall (3-3).
