North Callaway was confident heading into the first round of the Class 3 District 7 Tournament on Thursday in Montgomery City but will be heading home nevertheless.

The Ladybirds played Bowling Green for the third time this season, after losing to the Lady Bobcats in the first two meetings. They were swept for the second time (20-25, 10-25, 14-25).

While the season is ending on a sour note, head coach Andrew Klein said he is encouraged by how the program made progress this year, doubling the win total from last year and giving the team's younger players another year of experience.

"The girls played their tails off," Klein said. "We are encouraged about how much we've grown this year and are optimistic the way this program is going."

North Callaway finished with an overall record of 4-19 and an Eastern Missouri Conference record of 0-6.
