New Bloomfield's Sylvia Moss made the trip to state her second straight season this year and is an all-state golfer in as many years.

The senior started the day two places behind the top-15 threshold, after shooting an 100 Monday at the Class 1 girls golf state tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, but moved to 11th with her Tuesday score of 94 and two-day score of 194. Sophomore Dixie Moss in her second straight state trip shot a 115 on day one before having a 107 to move up from 61st to 55th and a two-day score of 222.

In her first foray into the front nine Monday, Sylvia Moss had a bogey or double bogey on every hole except par-3 fifth hole. On Tuesday, she carded pars on the fifth and also par-4 eighth and ninth holes. On the back nine, Moss improved her score on the par-3 17th hole, where she had a double bogey on day one, to a par but was two strokes worse on the par-5 18th hole, where she parred before.

Collectively, Moss had four pars, eight bogeys and six double bogeys compared with her two pars, nine pars and seven double bogeys from Monday.

Dixie Moss did have a par-less day on Tuesday but still finished with a better score thanks to improvements on certain holes. The first two holes on the front nine saw Moss finish the par-4 first hole and par-3 second hole in eight and ten strokes, respectively, but saw better finishes of five strokes on each hole on day two. The par-4 eighth hole saw Moss finish it in 12 strokes on Monday but yielded a bogey on Tuesday.

Moss finished that day with seven bogeys and 11 double bogeys compared with Monday's one par, seven bogeys and 10 double bogeys.

At last season's state tournament at Paradise Pointe Golf Course in Smithville, Sylvia Moss tied for fifth with a two-day score of 183 to earn all-state while Dixie Moss tied for 22nd with a 209.

New Covenant's Savannah Thessing shot another 86 to finish with a two-day score of 172 to win the individual state competition. As a team, New Covenant finished second with a 799 behind only Villa Duchesne's 754.
