Fulton kicking self after 3-0 loss to Hannibal

Fulton lost the first meeting with Hannibal on penalty kicks.

In Tuesday's game at home, the Pirates were able to kick themselves to victory again but in a regulation 3-0 win.

Hannibal (13-6-1, 8-1 NCMC) used a penalty kick in the 31st minute and a header of a free kick in the 36th minute to gain all the advantage it needed to defeat the Hornets (12-5, 5-3 NCMC) for the second time this season.

The Pirates scored another goal in the 37th minute to win their 14th straight game against Fulton.

"We shot ourselves in the foot tonight," head coach Joel Henley said. "Outside of a seven-minute period, we played really well. But we beat ourselves in that seven-minute period."

Hannibal finished with 21 shots and 12 shots on goal compared with Fulton's 10 shots and four shots on goal. Senior Joey Anderson had nine saves.

The Fulton junior varsity team lost 3-0 to Hannibal as well.

The Hornets now focus on their senior night game Thursday against Moberly (9-8-1, 4-5 NCMC). Fulton won the previous meeting Sept. 28 in Moberly 7-3.
