Prep Baseball: South Callaway 3, New Bloomfield 1

MOKANE - South Callaway manufactured enough runs in support of starting pitcher Dane Daugherty on Friday to defeat the New Bloomfield Wildcats 3-1 in a Show-Me Conference battle.

The Bulldogs never trailed, turning a leadoff walk to Jacob Lallier into a run off a Jacob Martin sacrifice fly in the first inning.

Martin hit a one-out single in the fourth and ended up scoring on Ryan Lepper's single to right field.

Another leadoff walk in the fifth turned into a third run for South Callaway. Courtesy runner Jake Boese stole second base after Hunter Kistner walked. Jonathon Thomas and Lallier hit back-to-back infield singles to score Boese.

New Bloomfield's Brendon Carter led off the seventh with a walk and scored the team's lone run.

Lepper relieved Daugherty with two on and no outs in the seventh. He recorded the final three outs, striking out one and walking one, to earn the save.

Daugherty allowed five hits and a run while striking out seven in a winning effort.

New Bloomfield's Breycin Dysart allowed three runs and four hits. He struck out eight in six innings.

New Bloomfield (8-10, 1-4) is scheduled to host conference foe Russellville at 5 p.m. Monday.

South Callaway (10-17, 3-4) is scheduled to wrap up the regular season Monday at Fulton. Game time is 5 p.m.
