High School Track and Field: New Bloomfield trio has big day at South Callaway Relays

MOKANE - Adam Deppe, Nathan Hinrichs and Caleb Distler combined to score 54 of the New Bloomfield Wildcats' 69 points Friday at the South Callaway Relays.

The Wildcats placed fourth as a team, trailing only Capital City (170 points), Harrisburg (121) and Southern Boone (116.5) in the 13-team event.

Hinrichs won his only individual event, the boys 3,200-meter run, with a time of 9:45.92.

Deppe had the Wildcats' other win, placing first in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 11.25 inches. Deppe also took second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.62 seconds and was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.34 seconds.

Distler posted second-place finishes in both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs with times of 2:00.94 and 4:29.88, respectively. He also took fourth in the 3,200 in 10:32.23.

Other top-eight individual finishes for the New Bloomfield boys came from Hunter Dawson, who was fifth in the 300 hurdles (44.91 seconds) and seventh in the 110 hurdles (17.43 seconds).

On the girls side, Aislin Jennings and Ellie Emerson led the Lady Wildcats with second-place finishes.

Jennings was runner-up in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.15 seconds, while Emerson was second in the javelin with a throw of 107-3.75.

The New Bloomfield girls were seventh out of 12 teams in the final standings with 44 points. Capital City won the girls title with 159.5 points.

Brooke Talbot finished third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 8-5.75.

In other field events, Emerson was seventh in the shot put (29-9.25), Jill Pry placed seventh in the triple jump (21-1.5), Ella Trigg placed eighth in the long jump (13-5.5) and Kamryn Herron took eighth in the javelin (84-0).

New Bloomfield placed in the top eight in all eight relay races.

For the boys, Aidan Carr, Joe Loseman, Jaiden Garrett and Jace Pitzen were fifth in the 4x200 (1:39.97) and seventh in the 4x100 (48.47 seconds); Gabe Browning, Brian Figard, Pitzen and Lucas Haley finished seventh in the 4x800 (9:34.34); and Carr, Dawson, Levi Briggs and Aaron McDonald took eighth in the 4x400 (4:04.04).

For the girls, Abby Baxter, Jennings, Trigg and Talbot were fourth in the 4x200 (1:58.10); Baxter, Talbot, Trigg and Sterlingrose Snyder finished fifth in the 4x100 (57.43 seconds); Asya Nichols, Brooklynn Smith, Talbot and Snyder took fifth in the 4x400 (4:54.10); and Baxter, Nichols, Mikaela Lemelin and Pry placed sixth in the 4x800 (11:29.01).

Friday's meet concluded the regular season for New Bloomfield. The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats will begin the postseason this Saturday in the Class 2 District 2 meet at New Haven.
