High school girls' basketball: Horstman, Brown fuel Lady Bulldogs' blitz of Tuscumbia

TUSCUMBIA - South Callaway senior center DeLaney Horstman and junior guard Raegan Brown shared game scoring honors with 25 points apiece to power the Lady Bulldogs to a 72-40 Show-Me Conference romp over Tuscumbia on Thursday night.

South Callaway (6-1, 2-0 SMC) raced to a 24-9 lead after one quarter and carried a commanding 42-16 advantage into the break. The Lady Bulldogs were on top 61-35 entering the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Paige Clubb added 11 points for South Callaway.

"We played really well defensively and forced a lot of turnovers," Lady Bulldogs head coach Daniel Burns said. "DeLaney Horstman played really well inside and did a great job rebounding.

"Raegan Brown was very aggressive driving to the bucket - she also knocked down a couple of 3(-pointer)s and went 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. The girls put forth great energy from the opening tip."

Kylee Ash led Tuscumbia with 19 points and Addie Rogers logged 13.

The Lady Bulldogs are the top seed for their own South Callaway Tournament next week and received a first-round bye. South Callaway will face either No. 4 seed New Haven or No. 5 Russellville in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the high school gym.
