Boys Wrestling: Kimbley leads North Callaway at Hallsville tourney

HALLSVILLE - Lane Kimbley recorded a first-place finish Saturday for the North Callaway Thunderbirds, who finished in fifth place at the Hallsville Holiday Tournament.

North Callaway totaled 98.5 points in the final team standings, one point ahead of Capital City. Whitfield won the team title with 236 points, while Camdenton was a distant second place with 150.5 points.

Kimbley finished with a 4-0 record at 113 pounds to take the title. He won two of his first three matches by fall, then won a 5-2 decision against Hallsville's Parker Crane to clinch first place.

Connor Green took second at 120 with a 4-1 record. Green won two of his first four matches by fall, but he lost by fall to Whitfield's Alexander Rallo in the championship match.

Eli Henry also finished second at 160 with a 4-1 record. Henry won three of his first four matches by fall, losing to Liberty: Wentzville's Wyatt Haynes by fall in his final match.

Third-place finishers for the Thunderbirds include Riley Humphrey and Blake Whipple. Whipple was 3-2 at 138 with three wins by fall, while Humphrey was 2-2 at 132 with two pins.

Carson Safranski was fourth at 126 with a 2-3 record, winning both matches by fall. Mathias Lobb also had two pins and a 2-3 record at 152, finishing fourth as well.

Austin Hoover took fifth at 113 with an 0-4 record, while Grant Bell placed sixth at 145 with a 1-3 record.

North Callaway will compete in a quad-dual Tuesday at Blair Oaks, with Father Tolton and Capital City competing as well. Wrestling starts at 5 p.m.
