High school girls' basketball: North Callaway 37, Wright City 25

WRIGHT CITY - Freshman guard Abrielle Burgher logged 15 points to direct the Ladybirds to an Eastern Missouri Conference win over the Lady Wildcats on Monday night.

Burgher connected on two 3-pointers, made 7-of-8 free throws and also came up with six steals as North Callaway improved to 6-14 on the season and 3-4 in the EMO. Senior forward Makenna Allen also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Ladybirds built a 14-7 advantage after one quarter and were in front 19-9 at halftime. North Callaway took a 29-18 lead into the fourth quarter.

"I'm very happy for the girls, it was a good conference win," Ladybirds head coach Morgan Beamer said. "We showed very unselfish play on the offensive side and did a great job helping out on the defensive end."

Jasmin Simpson topped Wright City (4-11, 1-6) with a game-high 18 points.

North Callaway (3-5) easily triumphed in the junior varsity contest 34-5. Sophomore center Elle Bedsworth and freshman guard Pressley Schmauch both finished with nine points.

The Ladybirds host an EMO matchup against Mark Twain at 6 p.m. Saturday.
