South Callaway boys take third, girls fourth at Eugene Invitational

EUGENE - The South Callaway boys finished third while the girls placed fourth Monday at the Eugene Invitational.

Eugene won the boys team title with 142.5 points, 3.5 points ahead of Steelville. South Callaway tallied 117 points for third.

The girls team title went to Russellville, which scored 136 points. Steelville was second with 129 points, Eugene finished third at 112 and South Callaway was fourth with 72.

Brendon Mealy posted a victory for the South Callaway boys by clearing 7 feet, 7.25 inches in the pole vault. Mealy also placed second in the javelin with a throw of 139-7.25.

Dalton Belcher had a pair of runner-up finishes for the Bulldogs, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 12.22 seconds and taking second in the long jump with a leap of 17-10.25.

In the discus, Kyle Dickinson placed second with a mark of 120-11.

Raegan Brown and Grace Pontius both won an event for the South Callaway girls.

Brown was the top finisher in the long jump with a mark of 15-7.25.

Pontius won the javelin comfortably with a throw of 103-8.75.

Paige Clubb posted South Callaway's other top-two finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:08.55, which was good for second.

South Callaway will host the South Callaway Relays on Friday.
