Track and field: Wildcats second, Lady Wildcats third at Russellville Invitational

RUSSELLVILLE - The New Bloomfield boys track and field team placed second while the girls were third Saturday at the Russellville Invitational.

Steelville swept the team titles with both teams scoring 160 points. Russellville finished second in the girls standings with 91 points and New Bloomfield was third with 81.

The Wildcats tallied 91 points for the runner-up spot.

Adam Deppe won two events for the Wildcats, taking first in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.07 seconds and ending in the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 9.75 inches.

Caleb Distler won the 800-meter run in 1:59.59 and Nathan Hinrichs clocked in at 4:35.08 to win the 1,600.

New Bloomfield's 4x400-meter relay team also took first with a time of 3:45.83.

The top performers for the Lady Wildcats were Aislin Jennings, who won the 300 hurdles in 51.60 seconds, and Brooke Talbot, who cleared 7-11.5 to take first in the pole vault.

New Bloomfield will compete Tuesday in the Montgomery County Invitational.
