New Bloomfield baseball takes third in home tournament

New Bloomfield rallied from a three-run deficit Saturday to defeat the Belle Tigers 5-3 in the third-place game of the New Bloomfield/Calvary Lutheran Tournament.

The Wildcats dropped Saturday's semifinal game against the St. Elizabeth Hornets, 9-1 at Calvary Lutheran High School.

The third-place game was played on turf at California High School.

Trevor Jordan led the New Bloomfield bats with two hits and two RBI against Belle, including an RBI double in the third inning and an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Lucas Buscher added a double and two RBI.

The Wildcats got a complete game from Ashton Schuster, who allowed three runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Belle scored a run in the first and two in the second before New Bloomfield plated a pair in the third and three in the fourth.

Against St. Elizabeth, Michael Saleny homered in the second inning and singled in the fourth to lead New Bloomfield's offensive attack.

New Bloomfield (5-5) will play Monday at Eugene.
