Prep Track and field: New Bloomfield places third at Westran Relays

HUNTSVILLE - A pair of individual wins and a relay victory helped the New Bloomfield Wildcats take third place Thursday in the Westran Relays.

Monroe City took the team title with 153 points, Fayette was second with 106 points and New Bloomfield tallied 94.5 points for third.

In the girls standings, Harrisburg collected 147 points to win the title. New Bloomfield finished 10th with 23 points.

Mikaela Lemelin scored 10 of those points for the Lady Wildcats with a win in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:59.28.

Caleb Distler and Nathan Hinrichs were individual winners for the Wildcats. Distler took first in the 1,600 in 4:43.31 to beat out Hinrichs' time of 4:46.47.

In the 3,200, Hinrichs clocked in at 9:47.70 to win and Distler finished in 10:05.40 for the runner-up spot.

New Bloomfield's 4x800-meter relay team of Brian Figard, Hinrichs, Dister and Jace Pitzen won in 8:58.14.

Adam Deppe was solid in the hurdles, placing second in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.00 seconds and fourth in the 110 hurdles in 17.95.

Hunter Dawson finished third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 45.07.

New Bloomfield is back in action Tuesday at the Montgomery County Invitational.
