High School Track and Field: Distler, Hinrichs win titles for New Bloomfield boys

HARRISBURG - The New Bloomfield Wildcats finished third out of 21 teams Friday in the Lowell Eaton Invitational at Harrisburg High School.

The Wildcats posted 66 points, trailing only Harrisburg's 126 points and Fayette's 113 points.

Caleb Distler won the 800-meter run for New Bloomfield with a time of 2:02.26, winning the event by more than 11 seconds. Gabe Browning took eighth in the event with a time of 2:31.26.

In the 3,200-meter run, Nathan Hinrichs won by more than a minute, crossing the finish line in 9:54.92.

Adam Deppe posted a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.54 seconds. Hunter Dawson took fifth in a time of 19.12 seconds.

Both Deppe and Dawson also placed in the top eight in the 300-meter hurdles. The two Wildcats tied for third place, each crossing the finish line in 46.31 seconds.

The Wildcats scored points in all four relays.

Distler, Hinrichs, Brian Figard and Dawson placed second in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:07.93.

Dawson, Jace Pitzen, Distler and Aidan Carr finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:56.55.

Joseph Fuhriman, Joe Loseman, Carr and Pitzen took fifth in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:42.29.

Carr, Pitzen, Loseman and Jaiden Garrett were fifth in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 49.39 seconds.

The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats finished ninth out of 20 teams with 33 points in the final standings. Harrisburg won the girls title as well, scoring 132.5 points.

Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Mikaela Lemelin, who had a pair of third-place finishes in individual events. She posted a time of 6:10.21 in the 1,600-meter run and had a time of 13:43.80 in the 3,200.

Lemelin also helped the Lady Wildcats to a third-place finish in the 4x800. Along with Abby Baxter, Jill Pry and Asya Nichols, New Bloomfield crossed the finish line in 11:30.33.

New Bloomfield's 4x400 relay of Makenna Coonce, Nichols, Brooklynn Smith and Sterlingrose Snyder finished sixth with a time of 5:18.58.

Also posting top-eight finishes in track events for the Lady Wildcats were Pry, who was eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 6:43.30, and Aislin Jennings, who was fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 54.03 seconds.

Ellie Emerson had a pair of top-eight finishes in the field events. She took seventh in the javelin with a throw of 84 feet, 10.5 inches, and added an eighth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 28-3.

Brooke Talbot placed sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 7-5.75.

New Bloomfield is back in action today in the Show-Me Conference meet at Fatima.
