Prep Baseball: Salisbury gets walk-off win vs. New Bloomfield

SALISBURY - It was an up-and-down affair for the Salisbury Panthers and New Bloomfield Wildcats.

New Bloomfield recovered from a five-run deficit to lead by a pair of runs, but Salisbury came out on top Thursday with a walk-off 9-8 victory.

The Panthers loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning for Austin Sturm, who drove a single into right field to plate two runs and win for the second time in three days.

Salisbury (2-0) scored two runs in the first and three in the second before New Bloomfield rallied.

Trevor Jordan and Lucas Buscher both doubled in a run and Breycin Dysart added and RBI single in the third to pull the Wildcats within 5-3.

Salisbury scored in the fourth to lead 6-3.

A five-run fifth for the Wildcats began with a solo home run from Buscher, who went 4-for-4 with two RBI.

Michael Saleny and Matthew Shikles each had and RBI double in the inning.

New Bloomfield took that 8-6 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Dysart and Saleny each had two hits and an RBI.

Ashton Schuster pitched three innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on two hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Jordan allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits with a strikeout and a walk in 3 innings.

New Bloomfield (1-3) will host Linn at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
