High school softball: North Callaway 3, Montgomery County 0

AUXVASSE - Senior starter Hayley Kimbley threw a no-hitter and the Ladybirds stopped a five-game losing streak with their Eastern Missouri Conference win over the Lady Wildcats on Thursday night.

Kimbley - who is recovering from a back injury - struck out seven as North Callaway improved to 5-6 on the season and 4-2 in the EMO.

"Hayley really showed some discipline and had good movement with the ball," Ladybirds head coach Mariah McKee said. "She's getting back to being herself."

North Callaway, which made the most of just five hits, tallied all three of its runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Senior third baseman Mikayla Pennell went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored for the Ladybirds. Kimbley had an RBI sacrifice fly and freshman shortstop Corynne Miller was 1-for-3 and scored a run.

North Callaway plays at Fulton at 5 p.m. Monday.
