High school softball: Boonville 10, Fulton 7

The Lady Hornets suffered their fourth loss in the last five games despite out-hitting the Lady Pirates 12-10 on Monday night at the high school athletic complex.

Boonville jumped in front with a four-run outburst in the top of the first inning, but Fulton (8-7) got two runs back in its half of the inning. The Lady Pirates added a run in the second, but the Lady Hornets tallied three runs in the bottom of the inning to pull even at 5-all.

Boonville then went in front to stay with a run in the third and piled on four more in the fifth to open up a 10-5 advantage. Fulton tacked on its final two runs in the sixth.

Junior third baseman Alex Trowbridge was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs batted in and a run scored to spark the Lady Hornets. Senior center fielder Rylee Hagens finished 4-for-4 with two doubles and scored three runs, while junior left fielder Rylee Caswell went 1-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Fulton senior starter Sydney Hedgpath was tagged for 10 runs - eight earned - on nine hits, including three home runs, over 4 1/3 innings in suffering the loss. Hedgpath walked five and struck out four.

The Lady Hornets travel to Marshall for a North Central Missouri Conference game at 5 p.m. Thursday.
