CALIFORNIA - Last week the California Pintos (2-1) suffered their first loss of the season after a 50-6 loss to Blair Oaks.

This week, the Pintos look to get back in the win column as they get set for their Homecoming game against the School of the Osage Indians (2-1). Kickoff for tonight's game is 7 p.m.

California coach Derek Scroggins said that it being Homecoming is not changing how the team gets ready for the game.

"It is just another game really," Scroggins said. "Our kids do a pretty good job of staying focus on the task at hand and treating this like it is Week 4."

Scroggins said Osage has good size up front and have a good quarterback. When it comes to defense, Scroggins said the Indians run around and tackle with aggression.

"We expect it to be a pretty good matchup for us," Scroggins said.

When it comes to California's offense, execution will be a key to the game.

"On offense we are just trying to execute," Scroggins said. "That is something we felt lacked against Blair Oaks. We are looking forward to being able to see what we can do on the field, especially when we finish our plays. Whether it is carrying out our fakes, blocking to the whistle, making sure we hold on to the football. Basically the little things that we did not do very well last week. We need to make sure we sure up this week and keep getting better."

The Pintos are expecting to be a little bit healthier this week as some players who were not able to play against Blair Oaks will be back for this week.

For their defense, the Pintos will have to be ready for a variety of plays from Osage.

"Their quarterback can throw the ball real well and he runs the ball real well. Their running back is pretty fast and they've got three offensive lineman that are very large. One of them is a Division I kid going to Illinois, so they definitely have some ability there," Scroggins said. "They've got a couple of move-ins over the summer that have helped them improve a little bit and we feel that they are bigger and more athletic than they were last year."
