High school softball: North Callaway 7, Clopton 0

AUXVASSE - Senior starter Hayley Kimbley threw a three-hit shutout and struck out nine as the Ladybirds overpowered the Lady Hawks in an Eastern Missouri Conference win Tuesday night.

"Hayley threw a heck of a game," North Callaway head coach Mariah McKee said. "Anything that was hit was either a pop fly or a weak ground ball.

"She was moving the ball well and hitting her spots, and her change(up) was really working. She was hitting the corners and keeping them off-balance."

The Ladybirds improved to 4-1 overall and remained unbeaten in the EMO at 3-0. North Callaway was coming off a 13-3 conference romp at Van-Far in six innings Monday night.

North Callaway amassed 12 hits Tuesday night in scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Kimbley helped her cause by going 3-for-3 with a double, a run batted in, a run scored and three stolen bases. Sophomore center fielder Jalyn Leible went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and scored a run, while senior third baseman Mikayla Pennell was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases.

The Ladybirds remain at home for an EMO game against Elsberry at 5 p.m. Thursday.
