CALIFORNIA - The California Pintos (2-0), who are off to their best start since the 2014 season, are getting ready to face a tough challenge in the form of the Blair Oaks Falcons (2-0).

California is coming off a 49-0 win at Fulton while Blair Oaks is coming off a 49-0 win against Knob Noster.

Tonight's game, which will kick off at 7 p.m., will be the home opener for the Pintos. California coach Derek Scroggins said the team is expecting a good battle this week.

"A lot of (Blair Oaks) skill position kids are a year older and so they have gotten a little bit quicker and a little bit better," he said, "and it is a quality program with pretty good athletes and we are expecting a pretty good battle."

On both offense and defense, Scroggins said being aggressive and being able to execute are going to be some keys for the Pintos in the game.

"We are looking to play a tenacious brand of football and make sure that we are ready for the battle that is going to ensue on both sides with our front line guys and let the rest sort itself out," Scroggins said.

When it comes to going up against Blair Oaks' offense, Scroggins said it would be similar to how they planned for it last year.

"It will be just like when we played them last year," he said. "As long as we do our jobs and play fundamentally sound football we should be fine."

So far with two games out of the way, Scroggins said the Pintos are still pretty healthy.

"So far so good," he said. "So we will see how it goes."

The Pintos are preparing to deal with the whole team, as Scroggins said Blair Oaks has good players across the board.

"Really it is really the whole team in general," Scroggins said. "They've got some good players across the board and luckily for us, I feel that we have some pretty good players as well and so it should be a pretty good contest."
