Fulton's Gaines captures NCMC girls cross country title

Fulton senior Kayanna Gaines locked up the girls individual title with a time of 20:57.18 to lead the Lady Hornets in the North Central Missouri Conference cross country championships Saturday at the high school athletic complex.

Sophomore Jonna Vanzetti came in 16th in 25:35.40 for the Fulton girls, who did not field a full team.

Moberly captured the team title with 26 points.

In the boys varsity division, Fulton junior Shaun Wolfe took third in 18:04.96, as the Hornets finished a close second as a team with 59 points.

Kirksville secured the team championship with 53 points.

Junior Alexander Noel was seventh in 18:45.22 for Fulton and senior Isaac Avery came in ninth in 18:51.73. Sophomore Carter Meyerhoff placed 11th in 18:59.53 and freshman Devon Merritt took 29th in 20:54.35.

Fulton runs in the Bowling Green Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday.
