High school softball: Six New Bloomfield players make all-SMC softball team

NEW BLOOMFIELD - Six players from the Show-Me Conference champion New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats were recently selected to the all-SMC softball team.

Named to the first team for New Bloomfield - which captured the SMC title with a 6-1 record - were senior outfielder Makenna Branch and junior pitcher Asya Nichols.

Senior infielder Sarah Abbott, junior catcher Brooke Talbot and freshman pitcher Peityn Thomas were chosen to the second team for the Lady Wildcats. Sophomore outfielder Brinley Dysart was an honorable-mention pick.

Six New Bloomfield players were also selected on the Class 2, all-District 3 team. The Lady Wildcats lost to Russellville 2-1 in the semifinals.

First-team choices were Branch and Nichols. Abbott, Talbot, Dysart and Thomas were named to the second team.

New Bloomfield ended the season with a 13-8 record.
