High school basketball: Ten Callaway basketball players earn media all-district status

Ten Callaway County basketball players - led by three South Callaway girls - were selected to the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters' 2019-20 all-Central District teams announced Wednesday.

Named to the Class 3 girls' first team from South Callaway were junior guard Paige Clubb and junior center DeLaney Horstman. Sophomore guard Raegan Brown was a second-team pick for the Lady Bulldogs.

North Callaway senior guard Daelyn Schmauch was also selected to the Class 3 girls' first team. Her sister, sophomore guard Ryelle Schmauch, was a second-team choice for the Ladybirds.

Fulton senior forward Tyler Sayler was named to the Class 4 boys' first team and fellow senior forward John Adams was a second-team pick.

Fulton junior guard Kayanna Gaines was also selected to the Class 4 girls' first team.

North Callaway senior guard Gabe Cash and his brother - junior guard Cody Cash - were both second-team choices on the Class 3 boys' squad.

The 5-foot-8 Clubb - who was named the Show-Me Conference's most valuable player - averaged 16.3 points, 4.2 steals, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game. The South Callaway girls made their third consecutive perfect run to the SMC title and finished the season with a 23-3 record.

The 6-0 Horstman, a first-team all-SMC choice, averaged a double-double with 17.5 points and 11.3 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Horstman also logged 3.1 steals and 2.5 assists per game.

Brown (5-8) - a second-team all-SMC pick - averaged 10.3 points, 3.5 steals, 3.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists for South Callaway.

The 5-7 Daelyn Schmauch, a first-team all-Eastern Missouri Conference selection, averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.3 assists as the North Callaway girls ended the season with a 7-16 record.

Ryelle Schmauch (5-5) averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 assists for the Ladybirds.

The 6-2 Sayler - a first-team all-North Central Missouri Conference choice - averaged 12.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks as the Fulton boys completed the season with a 15-11 record.

Adams (6-5), also a first-team all-NCMC pick for the Hornets, averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

The 5-5 Gaines - a first-team all-NCMC selection - averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists as the Fulton girls posted a 6-19 record.

Gabe Cash (5-7), a first-team all-EMO choice, averaged 14.7 points, 4.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 steals as the North Callaway boys finished the season with a 13-11 record.

The 5-7 Cody Cash - joining his brother on the all-EMO first team - averaged 14.4 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 steals and 2.2 rebounds.
