High school girls' basketball: Battle 47, Fulton 37

CALIFORNIA - The No. 7 seed Lady Hornets were outscored 27-17 in the second half of their loss to the No. 6 Lady Spartans in the consolation semifinals of the 26th-annual California Tournament late Wednesday night.

Fulton (2-10) was in front 11-10 after one quarter and the game was tied at 20-all at halftime. Battle then outscored the Lady Hornets 16-11 in the third quarter to take a 36-31 lead.

The Lady Spartans clinched the victory by outscoring Fulton 11-6 in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Carly Fisher paced the Lady Hornets with 15 points and junior forward Sydney Hedgpath added 10.

"In the fourth quarter, Battle made some key stops on defense and then hit some big shots to help push them on top," Fulton head coach Dillan Brunk said.

Maliyah Miller and Kaelyn Johnson guided the Lady Spartans with 15 points apiece.

The Lady Hornets are scheduled to play Rock Bridge's junior varsity, the No. 8 seed, for seventh place at 4:30 p.m. today.
