High school boys' basketball: Higbee 71, Missouri School for Deaf 55

HIGBEE - Junior guard Jayden Riordan tallied a game-high 26 points, but the Eagles had their three-game winning streak halted in Tuesday night's loss to the Tigers.

MSD trailed 20-13 after one quarter, but outscored Higbee 14-9 in the second quarter to trim its deficit to 29-27 at halftime. The Eagles went in front 35-34 in the third quarter, but the Tigers responded with a 13-8 run to carry a 47-43 edge into the fourth quarter.

Higbee then pulled away by outscoring MSD 24-12 over the last 8 minutes.

Senior center Mikal Meriwether produced a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds for the Eagles.

William Gibson guided the Tigers with 24 points and Jaime Smith added 19.

MSD faces North Callaway's junior varsity at 7:30 tonight in Kingdom City.
