The Lady Hornets couldn't recover from a 23-7 deficit after one quarter in dropping their fifth in a row to the Lady Eagles on Wednesday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Fulton (2-7) outscored Southern Boone 16-8 in the second quarter to trim its deficit to 31-23 at halftime and the Lady Hornets trailed 49-37 after three quarters. The Lady Eagles then pulled away by outscoring Fulton 18-6 in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Kayanna Gaines guided the Lady Hornets with 12 points. Junior forward Sydney Hedgpath and sophomore guard Kiah Pittman chipped in with nine points apiece.

"(Southern Boone) jumped out on us in the first quarter and we just couldn't dig out of that hole," Fulton head coach Dillan Brunk said. "It seemed like every time we would go on a run, they would counter it with a run of their own."

Trinity Schupp tallied a game-high 18 points to pace three players in double figures for the Lady Eagles. Mariah Prince added 13 points and Mia Crow had 11.

The Lady Hornets play at Centralia at 7:30 tonight.
