High school girls' basketball: North Callaway 41, Silex 26

KINGDOM CITY - Senior guard Daelyn Schmauch produced a game-high 15 points in her final home game as the Ladybirds logged their third consecutive win in an EMO triumph over the Lady Owls on Thursday night.

Schmauch also had five rebounds, four assists and four steals as North Callaway raised its season record to 6-14 and evened its Eastern Missouri Conference mark at 4-4.

"It was a nice way for Daelyn to go out (at home) with a really good game," Ladybirds head coach Morgan Beamer said. "The team and I will miss her a lot next year.

"I think she'll remember her final game."

North Callaway led 8-4 after one quarter and edged Silex 12-11 in the second quarter to take a 20-15 advantage into halftime. The Ladybirds then gained some separation in the third quarter by outscoring the Lady Owls 11-3 to go up 31-18.

Junior forward Makenna Allen contributed eight points and five steals for North Callaway. Sophomore forward Hannah Cundiff pulled down five rebounds.

"This was a really good conference win," Beamer said. "We look forward to picking up a couple of more wins next week."

Maddy Hall guided Silex (5-15, 1-7) with 13 points.

The Ladybirds' junior varsity team posted its first win of the season 39-34. Sophomore guard Piper Jeffries finished with a team-high 16 points for North Callaway (1-9) and sophomore guard Mackenzie Eaker was next with 11.

The Ladybirds travel to Mark Twain for an EMO contest at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
