High school girls' basketball: New Bloomfield 64, Tuscumbia 45

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Lady Wildcats stopped a four-game losing streak and earned their first Show-Me Conference win of the season by toppling the Lady Lions on Thursday night.

The game was even at 16-all after one quarter, but New Bloomfield (7-14, 1-5 SMC) outscored Tuscumbia 20-12 in the second quarter to go in front 36-28 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats carried a 46-37 lead into the fourth quarter and sealed the victory by outscoring the Lady Lions 18-8 over the final 8 minutes.

Freshman guard Mikah Edwards delivered a game-high 21 points to direct three players in double figures for New Bloomfield. Sophomore forward Ellie Emerson added 16 points and junior guard Makenna Branch contributed 12.

"We played a better, full game," Lady Wildcats head coach Brett Craighead said. "We were more aggressive on offense at attacking the basket."

Kylee Ash paced Tuscumbia with 20 points.

New Bloomfield (5-5) won the junior varsity game 24-12 in two quarters. Freshman guard Brinley Dysart had 10 points.

The Lady Wildcats play at Centralia at 6 p.m. Monday.
