High school girls' basketball: Fayette 65, New Bloomfield 50

FAYETTE - The Lady Wildcats were outscored by the Lady Falcons 24-8 in the second quarter of Tuesday night's loss.

New Bloomfield (6-14) was in front 18-14 after one quarter, but Fayette used its second-quarter surge to build a 38-26 lead at halftime. The Lady Wildcats were then outscored 18-8 in the third quarter and trailed 56-34.

Freshman guard Mikah Edwards directed New Bloomfield with 16 points and sophomore guard Asya Nichols followed with 12.

"(Fayette) got extremely hot shooting in the second quarter and we didn't have an answer," Lady Wildcats head coach Brett Craighead said. "We still have to be able to put four quarters together."

Abbey Conrow erupted for a game-high 33 points to power the Lady Falcons. Kylea Hoover added 12 points.

New Bloomfield returns home for a Show-Me Conference game against Tuscumbia at 6 tonight.
