Boys basketball: Mo. School for the Deaf 67, Iowa School for the Deaf 23

SULPHUR, Okla. - The third-seeded Missouri School for the Deaf Eagles roughed up the No. 5 Iowa School for the Deaf Bobcats for a 67-23 win Saturday night in the third-place game of the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament.

MSD (9-8) raced to a 10-2 lead after one quarter and was on top 30-16 at halftime. The Eagles then turned the game into a rout by outscoring ISD 37-7 in the second half.

Junior guard Jayden Riordan delivered a game-high 25 points to pace three players in double figures for MSD. Senior center Mikal Meriwether tallied 21 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Conner Luper chipped in with 10 points.

Junior forward Hezeki Smoot also supplied nine points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles.

Gregory Kazeba led ISD with 10 points.

MSD hosts Columbia Independent at 6 p.m. today.
