High school girls' basketball: Iowa School for Deaf 44, Missouri School for Deaf 20

SULPHUR, Okla. - The No. 8 seed Lady Eagles bowed to the No. 5 Lady Bobcats in the consolation semifinals of the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament on Friday.

Junior guard Cristin Kohl and freshman guard Hailey Luper led MSD with seven points apiece. Freshman forward Nina Beamish contributed six points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Eagles were coming off a 46-20 loss to top-seeded Oklahoma School for the Deaf in the first round Thursday.

Freshman utility player Tracy Austin guided MSD with 10 points, while Beamish had six points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Eagles played No. 7 seed Arkansas School for the Deaf in the seventh-place contest Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
