High school girls' basketball: South Callaway 75, Tuscumbia 39

MOKANE - Junior guard Paige Clubb knocked down eight 3-pointers in delivering a career-high 33 points in the state-ranked Lady Bulldogs' Show-Me Conference blitz of the Lady Lions on Thursday night.

"Paige set up well (for shots) and was feeling no pressure - her motions were so fluid," South Callaway head coach Darren Humphrey said. "She plays with a lot of confidence, but not the kind she exhibited tonight.

"She's definitely a game-changer."

The Lady Bulldogs - who slipped two spots to No. 7 in the latest Class 3 state poll released Thursday - improved to 18-2 on the season and 3-0 in the SMC. South Callaway bolted to a commanding 29-3 advantage after one quarter Thursday night and was on top 43-17 at halftime.

Junior center DeLaney Horstman also logged 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs and sophomore guard Raegan Brown chipped in with 12.

"We threw in some different defenses and the kids responded," said Humphrey, who singled out senior forward Raeghan Meyer's strong play on the defensive end. "We moved the ball so well (on offense) and found the open spots."

Scout Rush hit six 3s in supplying 20 points to lead Tuscumbia.

South Callaway travels to St. Elizabeth for an SMC contest at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
