High school girls' basketball: North Callaway 60, Calvary Lutheran 41

KINGDOM CITY - Sophomore guard Ryelle Schmauch delivered a career-high 28 points to spark the Ladybirds in a decisive victory over the winless Lady Lions on Monday night.

North Callaway (3-13) owned a slim 15-13 advantage after one quarter, but outscored Calvary Lutheran 20-8 in the second quarter to open up a 35-21 lead at halftime.

The Lady Lions outscored the Ladybirds 11-6 in the third quarter to make it 41-32, but North Callaway pulled away by outscoring Calvary Lutheran 19-9 in the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Daelyn Schmauch also tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Ladybirds. Sophomore guard Kyanne Kellerman had eight rebounds and five steals.

"It was a good team effort and it was good to get on the winning side," North Callaway head coach Morgan Beamer said.

Maddie Homfeldt paced Calvary Lutheran (0-13) with 17 points. Izzy Chilambo and Clara Duenckel both contributed 10 points.

The Ladybirds remain at home for an Eastern Missouri Conference contest against Elsberry at 6 p.m. Thursday. North Callaway will be looking to avenge a 44-39 loss to Elsberry in the third-place game of the 95th-annual Bowling Green Tournament last Friday night.
