High school girls' golf: Fulton's Whyte ties for fourth at Kirksville tourney

KIRKSVILLE - Senior Brooke Whyte shot an 89 to tie for fourth place individually as the Lady Hornets finished ninth as a team at the Kirksville Invitational on Tuesday.

Sophomore Grace Siegel followed with a 107 as Fulton tallied a 517 team total. Host Kirksville secured the team championship with a 388.

Whyte picked up medalist honors with a 44 as the Lady Hornets hosted a triangular with the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs and New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats on Monday at Fulton Country Club.

Fulton and South Callaway did not field full teams.

Siegel supplied a 56 for the Lady Hornets and freshman Grace Ousley had a 58.

Sophomore Sylvia Moss took second place with a 52 as New Bloomfield logged a 243 team total. Junior Kara Beckett produced a 55, sophomore Rylea Click contributed a 67 and junior Megan Saleny supplied a 69.

The Lady Wildcats play in the Paris Tournament at 9 a.m. today. Fulton hosts a triangular with South Callaway and Macon at 4 p.m. Thursday.
