High school softball: New Bloomfield 5, St. Elizabeth 0

ST. ELIZABETH - Sophomore pitcher Asya Nichols tossed a three-hitter and the Lady Wildcats profited from five errors by the Lady Hornets in a Show-Me Conference win to end the regular season Monday night.

New Bloomfield (14-6, 6-1 SMC) scored single runs in the top of the third and fifth innings, and added three runs in the sixth to punctuate the victory.

Nichols struck out two to raise her season record to 5-4. She was also 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Junior center fielder Makenna Branch went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run batted in and scored two runs as the Lady Wildcats finished with seven hits. Freshman left fielder Brinley Dysart was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while senior first baseman Ella Stevens finished 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

New Bloomfield is the No. 3 seed for the Class 2, District 7 Tournament at South Callaway. The Lady Wildcats face the host and No. 6 seed Lady Bulldogs in the quarterfinals at 7 tonight.

The Lady Wildcats shut out South Callaway in a 3-0 Show-Me Conference victory at New Bloomfield on Oct. 3. The Lady Wildcats then slipped past the Lady Bulldogs 6-5 in the semifinals of the South Callaway Tournament on Oct. 5.
