High school softball: Bowling Green 13, North Callaway 0

AUXVASSE - The Ladybirds were limited to only one hit in their five-inning Eastern Missouri Conference loss to the Lady Bobcats to complete the regular season Monday night.

North Callaway dropped to 10-13 overall and finished 6-4 in the EMO. Defending Class 2 state champion Bowling Green (20-5, 9-1) tallied three runs in the top of the first, one run in the second, five runs in the third, three more runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth.

Junior pitcher Hayley Kimbley hit a leadoff double in the bottom of the fourth for the Ladybirds' lone hit.

Kimbley (8-10) lasted just 2 1/3 innings in being tagged with the loss, surrendering nine runs - six earned - on eight hits and two walks.

"We didn't come ready to play," North Callaway head coach Mariah McKee said. "Bowling Green is a really good team. You can't do that and expect to win."

The Ladybirds (2-11-1) bowed in the junior varsity game 5-4.

North Callaway is the No. 5 seed in the Class 2, District 7 Tournament at South Callaway. The Ladybirds face No. 4 seed Hallsville in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. today.

North Callaway lost at Hallsville 7-0 on Sept. 25.
