High school cross country: Hornets' Wolfe takes fifth at Hannibal

Lady Hornets' Gaines finishes in sixth place

HANNIBAL - Fulton sophomore Shaun Wolfe finished fifth in the varsity boys' division in 17 minutes, 30.29 seconds to guide the Hornets cross country team at the Frank Lemons Invitational on Saturday.

In the varsity girls' division, Fulton junior Kayanna Gaines came in sixth in 20:15.38 to pace the Lady Hornets.

Fulton did not field full boys' and girls' teams.

Sophomore Alexander Noel was 21st in 19:16.11 for the Hornets, while sophomore Joshua Bonnel placed 30th in 20:08.35. Sophomore Landon Johnston finished 42nd in 21:00.57.

Senior Caitlin Sievert came in 36th in 24:40.33 for the Lady Hornets and freshman Jonna Vanzetti followed in 37th in 24:42.44.

MICDS and Kirksville captured the girls' and boys' team championships with 24 and 33 points, respectively.

In the middle school girls' division, Fulton Middle School eighth-grader Emery Mayfield won the individual title in 8:50.43 as the Lady Hornets placed fourth as a team with 95 points.

Eighth-grader Katelyn Rawls was 30th in 12:43.24, seventh-grader Chloe Schwinke placed 42nd in 13:58.60, eighth-grader Kayla Morse took 44th in 14:07.34 and eighth-grader Georgia Monroe came in 49th in 16:15.62.

In the middle school boys' division, FMS seventh-grader Adrian Lozano finished 17th in 9:40.62 as the Hornets were seventh as a team with 142 points.

Eighth-grader Devon Merritt was next in 18th in 9:41.38, eighth-grader Bryer Mullins placed 34th in 10:25.06, eighth-grader Angel Brown took 57th in 11:46.56 and eighth-grader Kaden Barnes came in 59th in 12:13.64.

Fulton's varsity teams run in the Centralia Invitational at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
