COLUMBIA - North Callaway junior Kaleigh Moore secured state medalist honors by finishing 15th in 20 minutes, 12.2 seconds at the Class 2 girls' state cross country championships Saturday at Gans Creek Recreation Area.

Moore is now a two-time state medalist and three-time all-state selection.

"I am just so proud of how she performed all year long," North Callaway head coach Chad Craghead said. "Today was not an exception. She left it all out there."

New Bloomfield sophomore Nathan Hinrich - making his first appearance at the state championships - was also an all-state pick after coming in 24th in 16:56.3 in the Class 2 boys' race.

New Bloomfield junior Caleb Distler - a two-time all-state choice and three-time qualifier - placed 124th in 18:40.7.

Fulton junior Kayanna Gaines - also a newcomer to the state championships - finished 60th in 20:40.2 in the Class 3 girls' race.

Brookfield sophomore Alex Sharp won the Class 2 girls' individual state title in 19:07.5. Fatima was the Class 2 state team champion with 53 points, Father Tolton took second with 63 and Lawson finished a distant third with 109.

El Dorado Springs sophomore Daelen Ackley was the Class 2 boys' individual state champion with a time of 15:39.0. Fatima completed a sweep of the Class 2 state team titles with 77 points, Steelville came in second with 115 and East Newton was a close third with 118.

MICDS freshman Julia Ray captured the Class 3 girls' individual state title in 18:13.8. MICDS also locked up the state team championship with 104 points, DeSoto followed in second with 129 and Smithville was third with 133.
