Boys' basketball: Linn 43, New Bloomfield 35

LINN - With both teams employing a deliberate tempo throughout the game, New Bloomfield bowed to Linn in a Show-Me Conference matchup between Wildcats on Friday night.

New Bloomfield (7-8, 2-2 SMC) was down 12-9 after one quarter and 21-18 at halftime. Linn then stretched its lead to 30-22 by outscoring New Bloomfield 9-4 in the third quarter.

Senior guard Jalen Martin topped New Bloomfield with a game-high 19 points.

"Our kids played ultra-smart and ultra-patient, and gave us a chance," New Bloomfield head coach Tim Gilmore said. "We just missed some opportunities late in the game."

Drew Voss paced Linn with 12 points and Jackson Voss was next with 10.

New Bloomfield is the fourth seed for this week's 35th-annual Sturgeon Tournament. The Wildcats face No. 5 seed Community in the first round at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the middle school gym.
