Girls' basketball: Clopton 71, North Callaway 26

CLARKSVILLE - The Ladybirds were outscored by a combined 47-16 in the second and third quarters of a decisive Eastern Missouri Conference loss to the Lady Hawks on Thursday night.

North Callaway (4-10, 2-2 EMO) was only down 11-8 after one quarter, but Clopton outscored the Ladybirds 25-10 in the second quarter to carry a 36-18 advantage into halftime. The Lady Hawks then pulled away by outscoring North Callaway 22-6 in the third quarter.

Senior forward Leigha Morrison topped the Ladybirds with seven points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Olivia Isaacks scored six points.

"Clopton definitely played a solid four quarters, and unfortunately we did not," North Callaway head coach Morgan Beamer said.

Jillian Lockard supplied a game-high 24 points to guide three players in double figures for the Lady Hawks (13-2, 5-0). Caragan Lockard chipped in with 15 points and Kaitlyn Kuntz logged 13.

The Ladybirds (2-7) bowed in the junior varsity game 43-28. Sophomore guard Hayley Kimbley finished with 12 points.

North Callaway hosts Wellsville in an EMO matchup at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
