High school girls' basketball: Lady Wildcats tumble to Russellville in Tipton semifinals

TIPTON - Cami Grayson knocked down a game-high 26 points to power No. 2 seed Russellville to a 64-38 semifinal win over the No. 3 New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats at the Tipton Tournament on Wednesday night.

New Bloomfield (2-2) was only behind 10-8 after one quarter, but Russellville outscored the Lady Wildcats 20-12 in the second quarter to stretch its lead to 30-20.

New Bloomfield trailed 44-33 after three quarters, but the Lady Indians pulled away by outscoring the Lady Wildcats 20-5 over the last 8 minutes.

Senior guard Makenna Branch topped New Bloomfield with 11 points and freshman guard Mikah Edwards chipped in with nine.

"We did not shoot the ball well at all - we missed a ton of outside shots," Lady Wildcats head coach Brett Craighead said. "Defensively, we were really good for about three quarters.

"The top end of our pressure was great, but we had trouble guarding their post players inside."

Reagan Jenkins also supplied 12 points for Russellville.

New Bloomfield will face either No. 1 seed Tipton or No. 4 Chamois for third place at 3 p.m. Saturday.
